Biggest obstacle to world peace is gun manufacturers. They have a lot of money, made it by keeping wars alive (especially the drug wars in Mexico) and they spend a lot of money to keep politicians in their corner.

A sizable chunk of America plays right along by insisting that we all need to carry guns to be safe. So . . .

The next time you go to a football game and someone lights a firecracker, be careful when a few thousand gun owners shoot into the crowd to “protect” you.

Marlene–So here it is…about two years after you wrote this post and I stumbled upon it by searching for what exactly it is that Eben Pagan reads. And what I’ve come to learn in the last 48 hours — in addition to the fact that I know about SOME of what he reads since he freely and enthusiastically mentions his sources throughout his live and recorded content — is that I’m not on all his auto-responder lists, because I clearly miss out on some of his “good stuff.”

In any event, I love your post–well written and with a clear understanding of what it is that Eben and his peers bring to the table. I also love the responses, particularly sceptic#2, who laments this “stuff” being “blind to reality.” This is RIGHT up Eben’s alley. So exactly what IS reality anyway? Yesterday my wife and I spent about 15 minutes scrutinizing the dictionary.com definition of “reality” and concluded that, for our purposes anyway, there is no such thing as “objective reality.”

I’m headed over to Nathan Otto’s Website right about now, and hope I’m not late to the party. I hope YOU keep rocking on. Cheers.

Marlene, thanks for the post.

It does take a “special kind of moron” to believe that we have a sustainable future for our race without making war a quaint and horrible anachronism.

It takes a special kind of moron who is pathetically optimistic to think that we have any worthwhile future, or any future at all, without making new agreements about how we settle political dispute in and among peoples.

If being pathetically optimistic is what it takes to create a future I want to live in, and that works for my kids, then sign me up.

Skeptics, look to the future your skepticism is creating–is that the future you want?

Obama doesn’t need to yank the cord on the military-industrial complex for us to have world peace–as defined not by some never-never utopia but by ending politically organized killing and raping. We have just about got it already–we need a mop-up operation and new structures of peace that include the military option to take over failed states and build effective governance.
