As an Entrepreneur and Business Owner working ON a million things in my business I must share my frustration here with service providers, employees, virtual assistants & other vendors. I find that so many of them wait for instructions & questions from me as opposed to taking the initiative to get stuff done or offer up solutions to make things happen faster. Heck, you are getting paid so why not make yourself more valuable to me by being a solution provider!
Why do I have to think of all the questions to ask and have the solutions ready at hand….and still write you a check? Frankly, I can only name a handful of people who work with me who are proactive solution providers who come with solutions to daily problems. I so appreciate these folks who think ahead and save me the trouble of having to research and come up with answers all the time!
My suggestion to anyone offering services to entrepreneurs and business owners is to see things from our side of the fence and offer up solutions to our problems that you can solve. You will be considered a keeper and an extremely valuable team member!
Don’t only focus on what’s in it for you, how much you are going to get paid, and when you are going to get paid….we’ll know what your primary motivation is! It’s quite unnerving feeling and looking like a big dollar sign only to be drawn from. I so wish there were more service providers who viewed and presented themselves as phenomenal solution-providers. Life would be so much better for us entrepreneurs!
